Introduction
The main feature of this Lifesource blood pressure monitor is that it records blood pressure readings for two users.
Followers of my product reviews know that I really like products that save people money by being able to be shared by than one person in the home. It only makes sense that a product such as the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate that can be used by two different people offers greater value than a product that is used exclusively by one person. The dual memory system allows for it to be shared by two users, and it maintains a record of the last 30 blood pressure checks. Where the BP monitor is needed for use by only person, then they can use all 60 log “spaces”.
Although the LifeSource UA-774AC is perhaps not the best monitor we have ever reviewed, it is certainly a good product and moreover, if you need a monitor that can store monitoring statistics for two users, the LifeSource unit becomes the natural choice. While the LifeSource UA-774AC offers most of the features you would like to see from a monitor in this price range, it is not quite so feature packed as a few others in its cost category.
Features
In addition to the “two user” facility, an important feature often overlooked is that there is also a “Guest Mode” for one-off blood pressure readings and this can be used anytime by anybody without disturbing the stored data.
As mentioned, the Lifesource UA-774AC monitor is able to record and log results for the last 30 BP checks; and although this is very useful indeed, that number is a little low. Even considering it monitors results for two users, the machine should be able to store up to 50 or 60 results for each user. I should point out that there are other dual user monitors in the same price range as the LifeSource UA-774AC that offer greater storage for blood pressure data. The omission of more memory in the UA-774AC is a cause of concern for me and inhibits me from being more excited about the unit. However, would be buying a Lifesource quality product with lifetime guarantee, which counts for a lot and with this in mind, perhaps storage of only the last 30 results will be sufficient for most users. I would recommend that they also keep an updated blood pressure chart or journal, which in any event will be useful to look at medium to long-term trends.
Although the UA-774AC does not have as much storage capacity as I would like, it does have a lot of other nice features. For example, the UA-774AC blood pressure monitor uses the invaluable Irregular Heartbeat Detection technology which detects variations in heartbeat rhythm that may be associated with arrhythmia. For ease of use, the unit also features automatic cuff inflation.
Because two people can use the LifeSource UA-774AC BP monitor, you must select either user ‘A’ or ‘B’ before taking the pressure measurement (one for each person of course). This two-button process is negligible in considering the ease of use for this model. If you need a single touch monitor for both users, you will need to purchase two separate monitors (perhaps a good idea for the wealthy or casual spender but in my opinion totally unnecessary).
Although the UA-774AC’s LCD display is not as large as on some other units, most users will have no problem viewing results on the high-resolution, well lit screen. The UA-774AC’s LCD screen displays easy to understand results for blood pressure and pulse. The backlight of the LCD Display is bright and not obtrusive. The UA-774AC also comes with two cuffs (medium and large size) so that most people will find a comfortable fit.
Not only does the unit comes with a lifetime limited warranty but it is really durable and well built; one would expect the unit to provide years of trouble free use.
Conclusion
The LifeSource UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor is a very capable monitor with many of the features most home users require in a blood pressure monitor. The UA-774AC is excellent in terms of accuracy and is very well made. The fact that two people can use the monitor, along with the potentially lifesaving Irregular Heartbeat Detection technology, make this BP monitor a worthwhile choice. Although this is not the best BP monitor we have ever reviewed here, it is certainly a good machine that offers above average value in a home medical device.
